Hornby Island Retreat :: Part One

Last weekend, I had the privilege of going to Hornby Island for 4 days with 11 other photographers to hang out, eat marvelous food and get a taste of what the island was all about. Especially since I had never been there before.

Emily, Alanna and I began our trip from Vancouver early on Thursday morning and made it to the island by mid-afternoon. The rest of that day was spent getting settled in, meeting new people (for me, since I was the only new person invited this year) and planning our next few days together. These images were actually taken on the second day of our stay and a few of the things that we got up to that day like a visit to the Whaling Station Bay, the Potter’s studio, eating a few superb meals and taking walks along the beach.

I don’t get to do this kind of thing often, actually, I haven’t had a break that didn’t involve work in some manner in a very, very long time. Which means, I don’t really know what to do with myself with a lot of downtime. I will admit however, being able to sleep past 6 am and sleep 9 hours a night was pretty much the icing on the cake for me. And also eat meals that I didn’t have to prepare myself!

The lovely ladies that were also at the beach house that weekend were:
Liberty Tree Photography :: Emily Hoskins
Alanna Clempson Photography
Jesse Holland Photography
E/A Photography :: Emmy-Lou McMillan
Rebecca Wellman Photography
Vicki Gannon Photography
Jennifer Dodd Photography
Jennifer Armstrong Photography (and her lovely little Tess)
Deb Gale

I’ll have a few more postings coming along from Hornby, as well as a few other personal items over the next little while, so stay tuned!
