Our Littles Collected

I have been asked to be a part of a series called Our Littles Collected, which I am really excited about. It’s based upon another series called You are my Wild, which I have been following now for a few months. The series is a collective of photographers who have children and each submit a photograph a week of the littles in their lives. I love the candidness of kids and this will certainly force me to have my camera at the ready. When I am at home, I oftentimes just want to enjoy and turn my brain off but there is always a part of me that feels like I am missing something if I don’t have a camera at hand. It’s a fine balance for me.

Jill and Chris :: Westwood Plateau Golf and Country Club Wedding

Let’s face it. We all know how much it rains in Vancouver, especially during the winter months and I’ll admit I was ready for all sorts of inclement weather. But Chris and Jill’s wedding was one of the only sunny days in weeks. It was chilly but it was glorious when the sun peeked through the clouds and fog, offering some pretty light at all the right moments.

The ceremony and reception were both held at the Westwood Plateau Golf and Country Club in Coquitlam and was the perfect backdrop for a wintry wedding. The beautiful stone and wood building tucked away in the mountains offered a certain amount of coziness that comes along with a winter wedding but the decor was warm and inviting. Completed by Chic and Unique Event Design,  Jill’s aubergine accent colour really made all the details of the room pop. And of course, the candy bar is always a hit.

From the chilly moments outside with the gracious wedding party to the first dances, the whole day was punctuated by laughter and joy. Jill and Chris were so easy and such a pleasure to work with and their families warm and welcoming. It’s couples like them that really make me pause for a moment to feel privileged and honored to be able to photograph such an important day.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for having me and my sidekick, Jarusha at your wedding!

Heather and Justin were the 2013 winners of the Valentine’s Day Giveaway so we met on Saturday morning for their fun photo session on The Drive. First stop was coffee at the Prado Cafe and then to wander around the neighborhood. When we were talking about places to go, I suggested we head to Commercial Drive after Heather told me they loved all things Italian. Since it used to be (and still is) an Italian hub, the Drive was a wonderful place to hang out for a few hours, even though we didn’t get to sample any pasta or pizza at 10 in the morning. But we did see some quirky street art and find the best store front for Valentine’s Day!

Big thanks to Heather and Justin for coming out to The Drive to hang with me and for being such great models! Don’t forget to leave this lovely couple some comments below!

Hope you all enjoy this fun session and I look forward to the Valentine’s Day Giveaway in 2014!

First Family Day

B.C. had it’s first Family Day this year and we had a great day in Point Roberts, WA. We often go down to pick up mail and end up spending some time in one of the cafes or wandering around one of the many beaches or trails. We love it down there. It’s really close to the city and it’s pretty much the perfect place to getaway and just be in nature if you’ve got a little one in tow. Maybe we’ll own our own slice of it one day…….

On a sidenote, I got a remote control for my Canon…..which is all kinds of AWESOME! Now we can take our own family portraits once in a while!

If you live in B.C., hope you had a wonderful holiday!

Happy Monday!
